Mission

SacLegal, Sacramento's LGBTQ+ Bar Association, is an affiliate of the Sacramento County Bar Association. Our mission is to promote equality for members of the LGBTQ+ community through strong leadership, legislative advocacy, education, and participation in civic and social activities within the legal community and community at large.

 


 

Purpose & Goals

Forum and Network: To provide a forum and network for members of the legal community and others who are interested in securing the human and civil rights of LGBTQ+ individuals; to evaluate candidates for judgeships.

Legal Rights: To defend and expand the legal rights of LGBT people to ensure equality, and to secure for LGBTQ+ individuals basic human and civil rights, such as the right to be free from discrimination.

Education: To educate the LGBTQ+ community in Sacramento County about their legal rights; to educate the community at large about the legal rights of LGBTQ+ individuals; to be available to judges, government officials, and others for advice regarding issues affecting the LGBT community.

Programs and Activities: To implement activities and programs of particular interest to LGBTQ+ individuals within the legal community.

 


Affiliations

SacLegal is a professional bar association and a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association.

 

SacLegal is also an affiliate of the National LGBTQ Bar Association, which promotes justice in and through the legal profession for the LGBTQ+ community in all its diversity.
